Dr. John J. Gordon(Dental surgeon) and his wife Mrs. Iwona Gordon, acknowledging the value of a good education, have given a ten year financial commitment to successful GSAT students from the Ballard’s Valley Primary School.
 
In memory of   his father and his father’s dedication towards education, Dr. John J. Gordon and Mrs. Iwona  Gordon have established
 “THE  EMMANUEL DECORDOVA GORDON EDUCATIONAL FUND”.

The sum of $200,000.00 will be donated by Dr.& Mrs. Gordon, to each institution
(Munro College and Hampton High School) , annually, for at least the next ten years, towards the financial assistance  of successful GSAT students ,specifically from Ballard’s Valley Primary School and commencing secondary education at Munro College  and Hampton High School as of September 2007.

Emmanuel DeCordova Gordon, a humble farmer, born and lived his entire life in the district of Ballard’s Valley, approximately five miles south  of  Munro College.
He fathered with wife and widow Berita Gordon , seven children, one of whom namely John Joseph Gordon (JJ) attended Munro College (1971/78) and at the request of Mr. R.B. Roper, then  Principal ,remained as member of staff for the academic  year 1978/79.
 
Maintenance  of seven children ,with one as a day (traveling) student at Munro, at the time was a financial burden. In order to fulfill his financial obligations , Mr. Gordon even had to give up the habit of smoking . He eventually  saw  JJ  through dental school.
 
Affectionately known as “Cordiva”, Mr. Gordon succumbed to illness at the age of 77 yrs. on August 19, 2007, the day Hurricane Dean devastated the family’s dwelling. MAY HIS SOUL REST IN PEACE !
